How to Choose a Mental Health Treatment Center

A woman who looks like she's trying to make a decision.

Making the decision to enter a mental health treatment center is a big one. This is an opportunity for you to get the help you need, but it also means committing some time to the systems and practices of that provider. One of the most important things to know about getting treatment for mental health disorders is that you have options. Like choosing a provider for any other service, you should carefully consider what each provider can offer and what makes one different from the rest.

At Willow Creek Behavioral Health, we aim to provide each person with individualized care that’s designed to fit their unique needs. We use proven, scientifically based strategies for healing, recovery, and rebuilding in a positive, motivating environment. As a comprehensive provider of acute mental, behavioral, and psychiatric issues, we will ensure you are always given access to the type and level of care you need.

What to Look for in a Mental Health Treatment Center

Before you choose any location, consider the following areas of focus each program offers. It should always be a program designed to support your unique needs and overall well-being.

Programs Specific to Your Needs

Avoid a general provider. When you are dealing with serious mental health disorders that impact your day-to-day life, it is essential to choose a care provider that offers specific treatment for your needs. This ensures they have advanced treatment strategies and highly specialized practitioners available to meet your needs.

At Willow Creek, we provide care for a range of needs, including:

You can trust that we will always provide the most advanced care and support to you in these areas. While we offer treatments for other types of disorders, these are the areas in which we offer the most specialized care.

In-Person Assessment

It is certainly beneficial to get some insight and support over the phone when you call a treatment center for help. However, it can be better to get a formal assessment completed in person. This ensures the best level of support for you because we can create treatment plans that work to fit your unique needs.

During our in-person assessments, you will sit down with a trained mental health professional. A full evaluation will take about 1 hour to as long as 1 ½ hours to complete. This is not the place for care to be rushed. You will learn as much as you like about our program and treatment strategies while we gather critical information about your current life and wellbeing.

One of the factors that makes Willow Creek different is our belief in providing you with fast help. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you. All assessments are completely confidential.

Accreditations and Memberships

Learn as much as you can about the way the program operates as well as the overall strategies used. One way to see how effective the mental health treatment program is requires learning about the accreditations available. Most programs should be accredited by the Joint Commission. This means that the program has met the high standards that the Joint Commission requires in areas of patient safety and quality of care. Learn more about what accreditation is and what it means for the care you select.

At Willow Creek, our behavioral health treatment plan offers a number of different strategies to help each person achieve their best outcome.

We utilize an interdisciplinary team within our treatment plans. This means your care team may include psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, nurse practitioners, therapists, nurses, and mental health technicians. This ensures you have access to the highest level of care possible.

We work with community partners to ensure the best overall treatment approach for our clients. We know that every patient’s needs must be met in order for you to be successful. That is why we ensure you are a part of the treatment planning process.

Our team is compassionate, and we have empathy for what has led you and your family to this point. We always aim to provide the highest level of care to you and your family as you persevere in an effective treatment process.

Are we right for you? To find out, set up some time to speak to our admissions team. WE will answer every question you have and provide you with the resources you need to start thinking about and planning for your future.
